AUTISM TN- BUILDING BRIDGES

The Building Bridges Program is a training program to train childcare and preschool employees in the tools needed to create inclusive environments.  The training includes a 1-day session, either in-person or virtual, resources, and ongoing support from the trainer.

COUNCIL FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN

The Council for Exceptional Children is a nationwide council for professionals involved in special and gifted education.  The Tennessee chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children advocates for children through policy and legislation and provides professional development, networking, information sharing and support for its members.

DOWN SYNDROME ASSOCIATION OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE

DSAMT celebrates and supports people with Down Syndrome and their families through programs like First Call program, educational advocacy, employment partnership, and crisis and respite grants.  They also provide Down Syndrome Specialist training.

HOOVER LEARNING GROUP

Hoover Learning Group specializes in Orton-Gillingham-based dyslexia therapy for children with suspected reading disabilities.  They can screen for dyslexia and other learning challenges. They can also train teachers in working with students with dyslexia.

NURTURE THE NEXT

Nurture The Next has programs related to children from birth to age 5.  They provide in-home support for parents as well as training and education. Sumner County Programs include: Parent Mentorship, Parent Leadership Initiative, and Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention. They have resources for parents and people who work with families.

TENNESSEE CHILDCARE RESOURCE & REFERRAL (CCR&R)

CCR&R provides training and resources to child care professionals.  They have a team of inclusion specialists who assist child cares with making accommodations and adaptations to their classroom environments.

TN INFANT AND EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH WARMLINE

The warmline is a virtual support available to professionals in Early Care and Learning, Evidence-Based Home Visiting, and Child Welfare. The purpose is to provide consultation regarding behavioral, developmental, and mental health concerns.

TN STEP

TNSTEP is Tennessee’s Parent Training and Information Center.  They have a wealth of information available on their website such as transition guides, an eligibility guide, and videos for both families and professionals.  They can also provide support to families and in-service and professional development for professionals.

TN VOICES

TN Voices offers a wide-range of mental health and family support services at no cost. They help parents and caregivers navigate complicated systems within the school, court, and mental health systems. They also provide care coordination and resource connection for the whole family. They also support educators and caregivers with trainings, consultation services, and technical assistance. Many families reach out to them for education advocacy. They also offer parenting and prevention classes. Their services can be accessed virtually or in-person, depending on the program.

Additionally, they offer individual and family counseling, case management services, psychiatric, and medication management services virtually statewide and in-person at our Goodlettsville office. They serve ages 3+. They take TennCare, some commercial insurances, and have a sliding scale fee depending on financial or situational hardship. For those who are uninsured or underinsured, they offer the Behavioral Safety Net Grant to access our services at no cost.

TRANSITION TN

​Transition TN offers free training and resources for educators and Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS). They are Tennessee’s online home for training and resources to prepare students with disabilities for life after high school.

VANDERBILT TRIAD

TRIAD is the Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders.  They provide information and training for families, educators, and service providers of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Families First Program is a free program for caregivers of young children (ages 2-7) newly diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
